Garage doors are a considerable expense, but unfortunately, they get damaged all the time. It can be anything as minor as a ding or as significant as a cracked and dented panel. If your garage door is scratched or dinged, you can always call in and have us come out to inspect it to see if it falls under the lifetime limited warranty on the paint system of Clopay garage doors. IF you’ve kept up on the maintenance, there is a good chance that the damage could be covered under warranty. But if not, and the damage is minor, you should be able to get away with a bit of touch-up paint. Clopay offers touch-up color for you to paint over our small chips that can happen to anyone.
For any window damage, make sure to call our office immediately. Clopay doors all have windows that are easily replaced. Depending on the damage, it may be best to replace a pane of glass, or the whole window unit. Either way, it is best to call our office and have a team member come out to assess the damage and determine the best course of action. If it is just a glass pane issue, we can do all the work in getting you a new pane of glass, or you can handle it yourself! Either way, we are here to help in whatever capacity we are needed.
Sometimes the damage can be much more severe. I was called out to replace a door that had been very dented a few months prior. The couple continued to run their garage door as usual without anyone coming out to assess the damage. The buckled panel continued to put stress on other parts of the door, and eventually, they went to open the door and the whole thing folded in on itself.
Sometimes things can happen, and a panel gets very damaged. Most often, this is caused by a vehicle running into it. Someone must come out to see what should be done even if one panel is dented. As always, all of our estimates are free, so getting us out there is no risk to you. Sometimes a whole new panel will need to be replaced. This isn’t the greatest of news but is better than needing more than one or replacing the entire door.
